Learn the basics of gliding with one of our courses. Choose one of the multi-day courses, led by an experienced instructor. The entire basis of gliding is discussed. At the end of the course you can control a glider yourself!
What are you going to do?
The course days start at 9.30 a.m. On the morning of the first day you will meet the instructor and your fellow students. Before you fly you get theory about the basic principles of flying and safety. You make the first flight at the start of the afternoon.
The other course days you start with the morning briefing. Together with the instructor you go through the weather conditions, flight planning and program of the day.
Then you go to the plane for the inspection, you check together whether the plane is ready for departure. And then it's time for the first flight! With a winch you are pulled up far beyond the Salland landscape. With your hands loosely on the control stick and the feet on the pedals you can feel what the instructor is doing. From there, the curriculum is further developed step by step. You will fly more and more yourself. After about 10 flights you can start yourself and you start performing the landing. Of course everything goes at a pace that makes you feel comfortable.
In between the flights there is a lunch (included) with everyone on the field near the gliders. Discover the club life of the gliding club and taste if this world is for you. Who knows this is a stepping stone to a whole training to become a pilot of a glider?
With these multi-day courses, the lessons are constantly being expanded with more parts of gliding. Depending on your aptitude and commitment you will learn:
- to take off
- basic maneuvers fly
- approaching the landing
- landing the aircraft under the supervision of the instructor
Your day will be finished around 18:00. You discuss the day with the instructor and there is ample opportunity to ask all your questions.
If you like it you stay "hanging around" for a hot meal with the rest of the crew. So cozy and you will find that there is always an abundance of beautiful stories. The airport has a campsite, you can spend the night here for a small fee.
Location
The courses are organized at the airport of Salland, at Lemelerveld. Salland is a popular airport for gliders. Floaters come to Salland from all over the country. You will not only discover how fun it is to fly yourself in a glider, but also how pleasant the team is with each other. You might not expect it, but gliding is a real team sport. You will be surprised how many people are needed to make you float. In addition to your instructor, you need a tiploper, cable driver, winch and a golf cart driver to get your device up and running safely.
