Paramotor flying is perhaps the simplest form of motorised flying. Paramotor flying can be done with an engine on the back of the pilot or with a chassis on three or four wheels, a trike. In this variant, you fly together with the pilot in the trike, with a propeller on the back.
You will start in Lommel, Maaseik or Kinrooi in Belgium, in consultation with the pilot. Lommel is located near the Dutch border at Noord Brabant and Maaseik. Kinrooi is located at the Dutch border with South Limburg. There you may determine the route yourself. It is very nice to make a beautiful flight over Flemish Limburg.
Flying a paramotor is very different from flying a plane. The seat with the engine is also called the trike. Attached to this trike is a large screen. This allows you to float through the air. You can rise up to 450 metres into the air, which gives you a fantastic view and the opportunity to enjoy the surroundings! The paramotor is controlled by pulling the struts.
This form of flying is often compared to motorcycling. You are in the open air, you feel the wind and you hear the sounds on the ground. All this gives a great feeling of freedom.
It is time
You always start the flight with a short explanation and safety briefing. The instructor talks enthusiastically about his passion and explains the basics of paramotor flying. The instructor answers all your questions, he tells how the paramotor stays in the air and how you can steer for example. This part takes about 10 minutes, no matter how long you are going to fly.
When you have checked with the pilot that the paramotor is ready for departure, it's time to go. You take off from a grass runway, which adds to the feeling of freedom. You go faster and faster over the grass until you are suddenly loose. You will be surprised how fast the paramotor climbs, this is because of the low weight in combination with the rather powerful engine. Once in the air, you can also steer yourself.
Because the paramotor flies relatively slowly and low, you have a fantastic view. You can fly over nature reserves or perhaps over your own house.
