Learn the basics of gliding with this one-day course. During this introduction day you will fly 3 times under the guidance of an experienced instructor.
What are you going to do?
Your day starts with the briefing in the morning. That way the day always starts. The weather conditions, flight planning and all other relevant things for the day are discussed. You will then receive a short theory lesson from an instructor. You discuss the program for the day and prepare yourself for the inspection of the aircraft. You help with the preparations for the flight day.
After the inspection you step into the airplane together and your first start begins. With a winch you are pulled up high above the landscape. With your hands loosely on the control stick and the feet on the pedals you will feel what the instructor is doing. From there, the difficulty is built up step by step. You will fly more and more yourself. Of course everything goes at a pace that makes you feel comfortable. It is very quiet in a glider, so you can understand the instructor as he tells more about flying and the environment.
There is enough time for all your questions between flights. There is a briefing for every flight and a debriefing after every flight. You will also discover the club life of the gliding club and see if this world is for you. Who knows this might be a nice step to a multi-day course or even the entire training to become a pilot of a glider?
Your day is over at the end of the afternoon. You discuss the day with the instructor and there is enough opportunity to ask all your questions.
If you like it, you can continue to chat with the rest of the crew afterwards. So convivial and you will find that there is always an abundance of beautiful stories.
Location
The courses are organized at the airports of Salland and Terlet. Both are popular fields for gliders, they come from all over the country to these airports. Gliding in Terlet offers a fantastic view over the Veluwe, Arnhem, the Rijn and IJssel and in good weather even Apeldoorn is visible! From Salland you fly on the east side of the IJssel, above the Overijssels landscape with a beautiful view over the Vechtdal. The Lemelerberg is nearby and towards the south you can see the Holterberg when there is clear weather. At the bottom of this page you will find a map with the locations.
During the course you will discover not only how fun it is to fly in a glider yourself, but also how pleasant the team is with each other. You might not expect it, but gliding is a real team sport. You will be surprised how many people are needed to make you glide. In addition to your instructor, for example, you need a tiploper, cable operator and winchman to get your airplane up and running safely.

Multi-day courses and the entire course
The courses are a nice introduction to learning how to glide. Multi-day courses and full courses are also available. The flying hours count towards the required hours for your license. You will then get to work to obtain your LAPL(S): Light Aircraft Pilot Licence Sailplane. With this you can fly solo in a glider. This certification is recognized in the whole of Europe.
